Welcome to Ametron!

Ametron first began in 1951. Maury Rosenthal, under the name of Flash Enterprises, opened for business at 7282 Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles. The primary purpose of the business was selling surplus electronics. The first employee of Flash Enterprises was Maury Rosenthal's wife, Arlene. Just prior to the company's move to its next location, Maury's brother, Mike, joined the company.

In 1953, the company moved to 567 South Fairfax Avenue and changed its name to Ametron/American Electronic Supply, Inc. Ametron changed its operation from surplus to become a true distributor in wholesale electronics to dealers. We were the first to give free deliveries. Ametron began to grow and a few years later the rental department came into operation.

The business continued to grow and in 1967 moved to larger quarters at 7355 Melrose Avenue in Hollywood. Because of the introduction of modular technologies and transistors, it was decided to open our doors to both wholesale and retail business. The rental department also continued to grow steadily.

In 1973, the company acquired a building on Vine Street to house its larger operation.

In 1993, Maury's son, Fred, joined Ametron full-time. By 1996, Maury and Fred were running the entire company. In 1999, Fred purchased the building at 1546 North Argyle Avenue, Hollywood from 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, which more than doubled Ametron's facility size. The new facility consists of 50,000 square feet of space which includes a screening room, editing suites, and film/video storage vaults.

We have new and improved facilities, and a forward-looking attitude about the company. We are excited about entering this new era in Ametron's history.
